12 Days of Christmas Carols

This is a curriculum I wrote sometime ago, but life got busy and it got put on the side burner.  I’ve pulled it back out and put some finishing touches on it.  Now it’s ready to provide to you!

christmas carols collage

christmas carols collage2
*The link to the Santa color page on Day 1 is not working, use this one instead. The link to the Christmas Tree color page on Day 4 is also not working, use this one instead. Also the link for Rudolph and Frosty videos will not play on mobile devices…I will work on fixing these two items in the actual document.  Sorry I set this up awhile ago and am finding the kinks as I implement it with my kids.

The curriculum is available FREE of CHARGE for you!  Each set contains 12 carols, some information/history on each, words to song, coloring pages and or other activities, link to listen/watch the carol, book suggestion.  The Ornament Craft kits are available for $15 each (shipping included).  I only have 10 kits of each set available for sale. Priority mail is available for $3 more per kit.

The craft kits are not required to enjoy the curriculum, but they add to it.  You can get by with one kit per family or you can purchase one per child.  Most kits include small parts, so best for children OVER age 3, skill wise most of the ornaments are suited also for that age, but some are best for 6+, ages 3-6 would most likely require assistance.

I know Dec 1st is HERE already (where does time go??)…but since this curriculum is only 12 days of Christmas there is still time to get them shipped out!  Email me your requests, I accept payment via paypal.  Please put in the subject line “12 days of Christmas Carols”  Thank you!

Here are some ornaments we did last year….the ornaments for this curriculum are NOT THE EXACT SAME, however it gives you an idea of what they are like.

We will be starting the religious set on Monday and will posting pictures on the Facebook page daily and on the blog each week.

Our Curriculum: H is for History

So we decided this year to do Early American History since we will be relocating to Maryland just after the new year, there are so many great historical sites on the east coast.  I wanted to be able to take full advantage of being out east, we aren’t sure how long we will be there.

I discovered this great Charlotte Mason based History program that I’m really excited about starting.  It’s called Beautiful Feet Books, and though they do not have a lot of choices for Elementary, they have what looks like great programs for Middle and High School.

They did, of course, have an Elementary program for Early US History. My oldest is 7.  We don’t start our new school year until January.

Last year we used Pandia Press Ancient History I and loved it; we plan to return to their program when we start Medieval History in 1-2 years. They also have Early and Modern History curriculums and follow the Story of the World text for their level 1 programs.

Some other supplements we will be using:

App Review: Eggy Numbers to 100 for Ipad by Reading Eggs

We are big fans of Reading Eggs apps in this house.  I have reviewed a few, and we own several.  So I was very excited to be able to preview and review Eggy Numbers to 100 for IPad for it’s launch on Monday, November 25th.

‘Eggy Numbers to 100’ on iPad, teaches children aged 6-8 additional skills in counting, addition, multiples and estimation, for success in mathematics.

Featuring 6 highly motivational interactive games that progress through 2-3 difficulty levels, children can use the ‘tap’ and ‘touch and drag’ functions to arrange numbers, match number dots to dots and write numbers answers – keeping kids engaged and motivated to learn essential mathematic skills..

The app features colorful visuals, catchy music, fun sound effects, and exciting 15 Mashies characters to unlock and earn.

My 7yo son used this program, and he really enjoyed it.  There are several math games to choose from, they vary in skill and level.

    Eggy count to 100_4

Space bugs was the only game he wasn’t able to do at this point, we have not really covered multiples yet.  The games could very well work for some children under age 6, as well…depending on their level.  For instance Dot2Dot -

    Eggy count to 100_5

    or Gridlock -

    Eggy count to 100_2

Also Balloons, these three programs are mostly counting/number order recognition.  Other games include skills of factors, estimating, finding the difference,  Games become more difficult as you continue them.

The app is a great way to practice math skills in a fun way!  My son enjoyed receiving the prizes as well (eggs that you hatch to find funny animals inside).

It costs only $2.99 and can be bought on iTunes.

Disclaimer:  I received this app for FREE in order to use the product and post an honest review.
